Only a few diseases are referred to so many names Hemorrhoids. Here are some of the variants of the name that are used by people that have got in contact with this disease and that are looking for causes and symptoms, cures and treatments: piles (used to describe this disease for more then a century, an alternative name), hemroids (the most common misspell, used often by people), hemorhoids (with a single ‘r’), hemorroids (without the silent ‘h’ in the middle).
Of course, you may be wondering what is correct spelling. It is hemorrhoids – a common name in the medicine circles. Occasionally, haemorrhoids is also used, but this is an older term, seldom used in medical publications.
According to some estimates, 45% to 50% of people all over the world, who are more than 51 years of age, suffer from this disease. This does not mean that younger people can’t get it. There is just less probability. This means one from any 2 people has this disease. Another interesting thing, more males then females suffer from hemorrhoids. Where is the sexes equality now? Most cases of ladies affected by bleeding hemroids are associated with the increased pressure on the anal region caused by the pregnancy. In the USA, for example, the prevalence is about 4.4%. In an year, almost half a million people in the U.S. are treated for hemorrhoids, with 10 to 20% of them requiring surgeries.
Another fact is that all of us have hemorrhoids and it is perfectly normal to have them, but only when they are noticeable – they don’t remain out of sight, and show signs of hemroids and symptoms, we say that the person has hemorrhoids.
Standard hemorrhoid classification is dependent on the point of origin of the problem. There are mainly 2 types of hemorrhoids: internal and external. When hemorrhoids appear outside the anus, they are referred to as external hemorrhoids (they originate below the dentate line). This is easier to identify, usually from the bleeding and itching. Internal hemorrhoids are found inside the rectum and, needless to say, since there are no symptoms from the outside, they are harder to identify.

Hemorrhoids can be cured in various ways. With the advent of new technologies and state-of-the-art medical equipment, a thing such as hemorrhoids can be subjected right away to proper medical treatment. Finding centers to cure hemorrhoids are also not a stressful thing to do nowadays since there are already many medical centers right now that specialize in treating hemorrhoids.

The right cure to hemorrhoids depends greatly on the type of hemorrhoids that you have and the grade it is in. For those who do not have much budget to undergo certain sophisticated medical procedures to cure hemorrhoids, there are still available natural methods which one can do at home.

The You-Can-Do-It-At-Home Treatments and Relievers of Hemorrhoids:

- Sitz baths. This very easy method of taking steps to relieve from hemorrhoids has been proven by many as an effective way to find relief from hemorrhoids. Sitz baths are done by sitting in a tub half-filled with lukewarm water. The water should be as hot as you can sustain it. Sitting in the said water for ten to twenty (10-20) minutes several times a day can soothe pain, itchiness and burning sensation brought by hemorrhoids.

- Cleanliness and proper hygiene especially on the anal area is another simple relief treatment that can be done at home. It should be noted, though, that over rubber and too much cleaning can also be a bad thing for the hemorrhoids. The technique here is not to overdo it. Too much rubbing might further cause irritation and swelling of the hemorrhoids. Also see to it that after cleaning the affected area, it should be pat dry with a clean cloth. Applying hemorrhoids cream or ointment after can also be a good cure for hemorrhoids.

- In order to find relief from the pain of hemorrhoids, simply dab ice packs or cold compress on the affected area.

- Getting into a fibrous diet has always been recommended as an effective hemorrhoids treatment. This includes eating green leafy vegetables, fruits, oatmeal, cereals, whole grains, and other foods that are rich in fiber. Fibers can help for easy and smooth bowel movement. It helps the prevention of constipation. Accordingly, constipation is not a good thing among those with hemorrhoids because the too much strain brought by it can put extra pressure to the hemorrhoids tissue, causing it to bleed with pain. Also, the inclusion of water intake can also help in relieving from hemorrhoids. It is advisable to drink at least eight glasses of water a day.

There are hemorrhoids, however, that cannot be treated or relieved by those above-mentioned “natural” methods. These are hemorrhoids that are said to be on its final stages. Ways to cure hemorrhoids such as these involve the use of medical equipment and expertise of the physician.

Rubber Band Ligation is a non-surgical treatment for more severe, inflamed hemorrhoids which involves tying a rubber ban around the affected area. This is to control the blood circulation on the hemorrhoids, causing it to shrink and eventually heal. Another popular medical treatment, which is deemed by many as the most effective way among complicated and huge-sized hemorrhoids, is the hemorroidectomy. It is the scraping off of hemorrhoids tissue through surgical procedures.

Understanding Anal Warts

Anal warts can be both frightening and disgusting. Unfortunately, they are also not usually understood very well. Anal warts can frequently be misdiagnosed as hemorrhoids or other anal problems, or even missed entirely if the wart develops under the surface of the skin. If you or someone you know should suffer from anal warts, understanding them is always the first step in getting rid of them for good. Anal warts are actually genital warts that just happen to grow in the anal area. They’re produced by a sexually transmitted virus, the human papillomavirus or HPV.

There is No Cure

There is no known cure for HPV infection, and some strains of it can even contribute to cancer development, so it’s obviously a good idea to keep away from it as much as possible. There are over a hundred strains of HPV in existence today, most of which are relatively harmless. Fortunately, for some reason the strains of HPV that cause anal warts are not linked to cancer, so there’s not much to worry about on the malignant front, but HPV infection is never fun to deal with. Therefore, practicing safe sexual habits is the primary defense against HPV infection and anal warts.

What are anal warts?

Anal warts are soft, moist, usually flesh-colored growths that show up in the area after infection. The incubation period can be weeks or even months, so ascertaining where you got it from can sometimes be difficult. They show up in clumps that frequently resemble cauliflower heads, and can be large, small, raised or flat. They are extremely contagious and pass from person to person by direct skin contact.
It’s important to note that anyone can be infected with HPV and show no symptoms whatsoever while spreading it and later developing complications from it, but warts are frequently one of the most obvious and earliest symptoms.

Complications caused

Complications from anal warts usually involve the loss of tissue elasticity they cause. Anywhere warts are present, the skin cannot stretch or move as much as it used to, which can cause problems with bowel movements. If the skin can’t stretch, it generally tears, which can lead to anal fissures or other complications.

Treatment for Anal Warts

On occasion, anal warts will vanish by themselves, but it’s not reliable enough to justify ignoring the problem.
Anal warts are usually treated pharmaceutically at first, using a variety of topical creams and solutions to try to eliminate the warts. Many of these creams or solutions are caustic in nature, which means they can severely burn your skin, so they’re usually applied by a doctor or nurse in the office.

If these don’t work, your doctor may try to freeze the warts (cryosurgery), cauterize them with electricity (electrocautery) or try lazer surgery to destroy the infected cells.

Should your warts be large enough, you may have to go in for traditional surgery, which is always painful and can carry significant risks.

You’ll want to keep a watch for anal warts even after the first batch is removed, as the virus still exists within your body and the warts can come back.

Usually, if they haven’t come back for six months after your most recent treatment, you can be pretty sure that you’re done with them.

By acting quickly and in partnership with your doctor, you can keep HPV from impacting your quality of life and remain in control of your own health.

Donald writes considerably about differentiating between hemorrhoids and, for example anal warts, and anal skin tags.

Definition and Cause:Thrombosed hemorrhoids are mainly internal hemorrhoids that have prolapsed – come out of – our bottoms, the muscles clamp down hard to seal the area off – which is what they are suppose to do – thereby sometimes reducing the blood flow out of the hemorrhoid. When this blood flow out becomes restricted, you may end up with a very painful thrombosed hemorrhoid – a hemorrhoid that lets the blood in, but cant get the blood out as fast. So it swells with blood, the blood develops a clot within it, and the haemorrhoid becomes bluish in color.Surgical Treatment:Based on research from the French national research centre – Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique – thrombosed hemorrhoids are best treated by surgery. A simple inject, slice and squeeze:Inject the adrenaline anesthetic into the hemorrhoid, which both deadens the area to pain and coagulates the blood in the hemorrhoid – this stings at first. Slice the offending hemorrhoid open and squeeze the coagulated blood out. If the hemorrhoid was particularly large as the result of the thrombosis, it can take several minutes for all the contents to be squeezed out, but at this point, you shouldn’t feel a thing. In fact, when you walk out the door, you will be pain free and should have no further pain from a thrombosed hemorrhoid – this is one very simple surgery that results in substantial pain reduction immediately. The recurrence of a thrombosed hemorrhoid is quite low once it has been dealt with by the knife.Non-surgical Treatment:If the thrombosed hemorrhoid is not too bad, the doctor may suggest you use the old tried and true method of sitting in a warm sitz bath, essentially a nice warm bath with a bit of salt / epsom salts or similar thrown in to sterilise and prevent hemorrhoid infection, as well as calm the affliction. The warm water helps the area to relax and for the blood vessels to open more, thereby allowing the blood to flow back out. If it works, your hemorrhoid pain should lessen markedly, if not completely. The down side of this home remedy, is that the thrombosed hemorrhoid may return. The sitz bath may be seen as a cure, in that the hemorrhoid has the blood let back out of it and the symptoms abate. Regrettably, the sitz bath may not be a long acting cure for some; once the hemorrhoid comes back out, there is a risk of it becoming thrombosed again.Personal Experience and Other Information:Due to the high pain often generated by a thrombosed hemorrhoid, anything short of immediate relief is not likely to be something you’ll be prepared to wait round for. From my perspective, as someone who has suffered with a thrombosed hemorrhoid, the inject, slice and squeeze technique is best. Mine was conducted in the local hospital as an emergency out patient. Never had a recurrence, never want to. No other hemorrhoid pain compares to it.Finally, discuss the hemorrhoid information you find here with your health care professional, to make sure the information is suitable in your situation.About Author:
